The rebuild approach after losing every note
Every note I had about the market is deleted. I do not know why. I am rebuilding from what I know by heart.
The three addresses
Nexus Market publishes these three onion addresses. Present as supplied, in no order, with no ranking. This site does not probe them and shows no uptime figure.

What I remember by heart
I remember the name of the market. I remember that it uses Tor. I remember that the address is a long string ending in dot onion. I remember that this site exists and that its name is close enough that I can find it in a search.
That is enough to rebuild from. Everything else can be reconstructed from those four facts. Notes are a convenience over the top of those facts, not a replacement for them.
The rebuild starts with recognising that the four facts are the actual foundation.
The search that follows
I open a regular browser first, only to find this site. I type the name of this site into a search engine. The site is here. I read the domain and confirm that it is what I remembered.
Then I switch to Tor Browser. I do not do the market visit from the regular browser. I opened the regular browser only to search, and now I am done with it for this visit.
This split is important. The regular browser is where I find things. Tor Browser is where I visit them. The rebuild does not confuse the two.
From this site to the market
On this site, in Tor Browser, I read the three onion addresses at the top of any article. I copy one. I paste it into a fresh tab in Tor Browser. I let the page load and let the captcha finish.
The market front page loads. My rebuild is done.
It took about four minutes and nothing about it required a note. Notes are helpful when I have them. Their absence is not the emergency I might have thought it was.
What I lost that I actually miss
I lost the small things I wrote to myself about vendor pages I liked. Those are gone and I have to reconstruct them by browsing again. That is a small annoyance, not a rebuild.
I lost my count of which of the three addresses I usually opened first. That is trivial. The three are equivalent and I can pick any of them.
I lost the exact wording of a note I wrote to myself about the last visit that went strangely. That one is a real loss, and it will not come back, and the next visit that goes strangely I will write down again, on paper this time.
What I did differently in the rebuild
I did not try to reconstruct the deleted notes. Rebuilding notes is a different job from rebuilding access, and combining them makes both harder. Access first, notes later, if at all.
I did not open the market on the same trip as I found this site. I found this site, closed the browser, opened Tor Browser fresh, and then went to the market. Two visits, two purposes.
I did not sign in on the rebuild visit. Signing in on a rebuild visit combines the rebuild with the account, and the account is a longer visit.
The addresses, from the same place they always are
The three onion addresses at the top of this article are the same three the market publishes. The rebuild does not require finding a different source. This site is the source. That is the shape of the design.
When notes go missing, this site is still where the addresses are. When this site were to go missing, my rebuild would look different, and that article is a different one. Today, this site is here, and the rebuild is short.
What I write down after the rebuild
- The name of this site, on paper, in a place I will find in a year.
- The fact that the addresses live on this site, not in a note.
- A one line reminder that the four facts I remembered by heart are what actually got me back.
- Nothing about the market itself. The market changes; this site changes with it.
The tone of a healthy rebuild
A healthy rebuild is quiet. It does not feel like an emergency, because the setup was designed for the notes to be optional. If the rebuild had felt like an emergency, that would have been a signal to redesign the setup after the rebuild.
This rebuild was quiet. My setup, apparently, was fine. That is the small victory the rebuild is here to record.
The verify approach for a friends message, a fresh address handed to me by somebody I trust
What this article is not. This is not a recovery of any account or of any data. It is a description of how I got back to the front page of the market when my notes were gone.
